Tip 031 - Web Accessibility Test List

This is not comprehensive, but it's a fair number of tests that should be run on sites before pushing any UI to production:

  • Color contrast
  • Legibility
  • Reading level
  • Turn CSS off
  • Turn JS off
  • Heading levels
  • Screen readers / assistive technology
  • Screen sizes
  • Browser zoomed in
  • Keyboard only
  • Mouse only
  • Color-based status indicators
  • If resources don't load (e.g. fonts, images, etc)
  • Machine accessibility checker (Wave, Axe, etc)
  • Document source order

And last but really really not least:

  • Qualitative testing with people of all sorts; Test with different demographics, cognitive levels, and disabilities!
